Pastor Ricky Freeman holds Women's Day
Saint John Church-Baptist will host its 69th Annual Women’s Day Observance on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 4821-35 South Michigan Avenue.
This year’s theme is “Kingdom Building Through Faith, Love and Action.” The Reverend Francine T. Stark will deliver the message at the 10:50 a.m. worship service. Reverend Stark is currently on staff at Third Baptist Church of Chicago. She is responsible for program development and acts as liaison to ecclesiastical and community groups in the development of partnerships for ministries in line with the mission of Third Baptist. She has a background in nursing; addictions counseling; counseling for survivors of childhood sexual abuse; and is an advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness, early detection and interventions.
A dynamic gospel concert featuring Saint John’s Women’s Chorus and the Women’s Choirs of Saint Stephen A.M.E. Church and Third Baptist Church of Chicago will take place at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Scheduled as a precursor to
the much anticipated Women’s Day service is the Market Day Bazaar on Saturday, March 7. The Women’s Day Committee hosts the event from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church. A variety of goods, including books, handbags, hats, jewelry, perfumes and colognes, African artifacts and professional services, will be available for sale. Guests will be treated with door prizes and refreshments.
Founded in 1904, Saint John Church-Baptist is one of Chicago’s oldest African-American congre-gations. The Reverend Dr. Ricky Freeman is the pastor.
