Ida B. Wells Great-Granddaughter speaks

Michelle Duster, great-granddaughter of the legendary Ida B. Wells, will join the members and friends at the Lay Day services of the Carey Tercentenary A.M.E. Church, located at 1448 South Homan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois  (the corner of 15th Street and Homan Avenue) on Sunday, March 7.

The morning service will begin at 11:00 a.m., and the theme for the morning service is “Refocusing Our Ministry to Serve This Present Age.”  Mi-chelle is the co-author of Ida:  In Her Own Words.

The morning service will provide a wonderful opportunity to gain insights into the rich history and purpose of the Laymen’s Organization of the AME Church, which, was established in 1787 and how this history impacts the current age.

There will be a reception and book signing following the service, which, will provide a forum for Michelle to draw parallels between issues surrounding the Columbian Exposition and some of the issues we face today. Everyone is encouraged to come out and bring members of the community to share in this learning experience.
